From the Desk of CEO Yoshinori Ono #50

I can't believe that just yesterday I was sweltering, and now I can't leave the house without long sleeves.

Welcome back to a slightly delayed edition of "From the Desk" blog.

At the end of September, we held Lasengle's annual BBQ. Nearly 300 employees and their families took part this year. It was great to see everyone again and spend a sunny Saturday afternoon together.

As some people at Lasengle work remotely, getting to talk face-to-face with teammates we usually only see on video calls was really special. There's something really wonderful about sharing the same vibe and atmosphere in-person.

The media sometimes writes off company events like this as outdated, relics of a stuffy corporate culture, but I believe this time is worth valuing.

It's a chance for families to see what Mom and Dad do all day and who they work with. And it gives coworkers who don't normally cross paths a chance to connect. Both matter when you're trying to build a creative environment.

What really made the event work, though, were the volunteers in the organizing committee and the staff who stepped up to run it on the day. From keeping an eye on the kids to running activities and keeping the energy going, these volunteers genuinely wanted everyone to have fun and we're happy to lend a hand.

It goes without saying but there's no press ganging here at Lasengle. Whether you want to volunteer, take part in the event, or stay at home and relax, it's all good. While we might have old-school events, our culture is a long way from the corporate culture of the past, and nobody's performance is judged based on these extracurricular activities!

On a different note, we also hold regular management retreats with our leadership team to align on where we're headed as a company. At these retreats, all our managers--myself included--really dig into what Lasengle should look like three to five years down the road.

It's time dedicated to map out not just quarterly targets or current trends, but the kind of studio we want to become over the long haul from the direction of our game lineup and how we structure development and operations, to how we build our organization.

Over two to three days of deep conversation, we also step back and reflect on what it means to create the Lasengle way and how we want to work together.

Creating in gaming isn't just about technical skills or knowledge. It happens when people connect, when passion meets passion.

Talking with someone, sharing time together, laughing together. All of that builds the team strength that leads to great creative work.

Lasengle is a company who values that human connection. Even as how and where we work evolves, it always comes back to people and passion. With that as our foundation, we'll keep pushing into new territory.

So if this made you think, "Huh, that Lasengle sounds like an interesting place to work," come take a look at what we're doing at Lasengle.

We're actively recruiting right now. Early selection for 2027 graduates is open, and we're accepting applications through our new grad recruitment site. Applications close November 24th (Monday).

We're also hiring experienced professionals, so if you've got some years under your belt and you're looking for a new challenge, check out our careers page.

Maybe we can build your next chapter together.
If any of this resonated with you, that'd make my day.

Until next time!
