From the Desk of CEO Yoshinori Ono #33

Hey there! I'm Yoshinori Ono, CEO at Lasengle.
Welcome to my blog and thanks for dropping by!

I ended up skipping the blog in August. I'd like to say that I was busy customizing robots, fighting off a barrage of bullets, or salvaging for gear deep in a dark dungeon. But the truth is much more mundane: Work.

Although, if I'm really being honest, it was more due to my new obsession with space exploration. Raise your hand if your life's been taken over by Starfield? Yep, it's addictive.

As soon as I saw the trailer pre-launch, my mind was buzzing with anticipation for this game. I got early access with pre-order and immediately set sail on the cosmic seas.

The size of the world is truly mind-blowing. There are so many great side stories I can't tell which is the main one, and there's a whole bunch of NPC interactions tailored to your character's profile. I could go on and on about what makes this game so amazing but I don't want to give too much away to those of you who haven't jumped in.

What I will say is that, for someone like me, who is lucky enough to be standing in the same playing field of video game development, masterpieces like this fill me with a complicated cocktail of excitement and despair. It's an overwhelming sense of awe that just makes me go "Wow."

At Lasengle, our slogan is "Doki Doki wo Sekai e" (Excite the world). I love this slogan. It's simple, but it's exactly what I want to do, and what I want us all to be doing at Lasengle. I mean, what could be better than a game that makes people go, "Wow. Just wow."?

Starfield is definitely one of those games and playing it reminded me how great it is to play a game that gets you excited. It's been a chance to reaffirm my determination to create games that inject our unique "doki doki" essence and excitement, and to make something that is on a level with the world's greatest creators. (I know this sounds like a speech you'd make at the end of play, but I'm nowhere near leaving Starfield yet!)

At the end of July, we celebrated FGO 8th Anniversary with the Fate/Grand Order Fes. 2023 Summer Festival.

It was my third time to take part in the event. In 2021, it was held online, and in 2022, it was held within pandemic restrictions so there were limits on attendees and how people could participate. But this time, there were minimal restrictions so I got to enjoy an event which was close to the pre-pandemic vibe.

It was an honor to welcome so many Masters to the event and a chance to feel grateful for the support and love for the game. I was also reminded of our responsibility to keep delivering a great experience.

Thank you to everyone who came and shared their passion with us, and for all your support of FGO. We couldn't do any of this without you!

We've also been putting on events at Lasengle, but on a much smaller scale. Most recently with the Lasengle Game Jam.

Participants formed teams of three with people from different projects, and each team was set the challenge of creating a particular game within a certain amount of time.

Mixing people from different projects allowed members the chance to experience different approaches to game creation. And interacting with people who we don't typically work with is a great way to foster an open minded attitude toward ways of generating ideas, using technology, or anything outside of our regular way of doing things.

The event was a lot of fun and a great way to enhance the culture we have at Lasengle. It'd be cool if we could make it a regular thing. If you'd like to learn more about our company culture and environment, check out this article (available in Japanese only).

If any of this appeals to you, and you want to join the team at Lasengle, then visit our Careers page and check out our open positions. We'd love to welcome you on board as we bring "doki doki" and excitement to the world of gaming!

Ok, I'm signing off. There's some important space exploration to prepare for.

Till next time!
